We spoke to our Lottery 178 Winner about his $705,000 prize win, and what it really means to help others.
As the fundraising arm of Deaf Services, The Deaf Lottery exists to raise money to help others, funding programs empowering Deaf and hard of hearing Australians to live independent, connected and social lives. It’s a real thrill, then, to know that the 1st Prize from Lottery 178 was won by someone who is equally as committed to helping others, and whose primary reward is the satisfaction of doing so.
We spoke to our Lottery 177 Second Prize Winner Gavin*, from Melbourne, who won $5000, and is using his winnings for a very worthy cause: his family.
Gavin describes himself as having an “incredibly lucky” life, despite being dealt what many would likely view as an unlucky hand.
Gavin and his wife care for their two sons, 23 and 15, who both have complex health issues. Their eldest has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, an untreatable genetic condition affecting joints, skin and blood vessels, a condition not diagnosed until he was 18, after countless operations and hospital visits.
Another Deaf Lottery Winner Flying High
We spoke to our Lottery 177 Winner, who is flying high (in more ways than one) after collecting $715,000 in prizes!
Getting a phone call out of nowhere telling you your life is about to change sounds like the beginning of a Hollywood script.
Ticket number 0757928 | Carseldine 4034 | Total Prize Amount $705,000
It’s hard to get a sense of someone’s character in just five minutes, but that was all it took when talking to our Lottery 178 1st Prize Winner this morning.
With ticket number 0757928, Lou* from Carseldine (4034) won a Total 1st Prize of $705,000, and received the call while at work. As is often the case, we had to first assure Lou that the call was real.
